My Mission

Piano Lessons for Beginners to Advanced Students

My mission as a piano teacher is to help students with no prior experience on the piano, as well as more experienced students to build up the skill sets that they need to play the piano with confidence. Above all else I like to make sure my lessons are enjoyable and that my students always enjoy their time with me.

My lessons are built around the styles and music that you love. I will make a lesson plan based around your own musical tastes and likes. A versatile piano teacher will teach you how to play the instrument with pleasure. If you are a beginner or already know how to play the instrument to some extent, I will be glad to see you in my lessons and share my experience.

My Lessons

All Ages Taught

I teach both children and adults, helping them to learn the foundations of how to play the piano. Do you want to learn to sight-read or improvise based on chord symbols and accompany your favorite songs, or are you purposefully preparing for exams? If so I can help.

My piano lessons usually include several techniques such as sight-reading, playing by ear, and some improvisation. This approach gives students the freedom and opportunity to become an all-rounded musician, performing different music. At the same time, at the request of the student, we can focus on the classical repertoire and prepare for exams.

Prices:

£15 per 1/2 hour
£20 per 3/4 hour
£25 per hour

Lessons are pay-as-you-go, weekly, fortnightly or as suits you.

Complete Beginners Welcome

I teach beginners students with carefully created lessons, focused on helping you to develop the skills you need to know to play with confidence.

My Experience as a Teacher

My love for music originated in childhood at the age of 6 when my mother sent me to Narva Music School, where I studied for 9 years in parallel with the secondary school. Thanks to good teachers of classical piano, kannel, choir, solfege, and music history, I received an excellent secondary specialized musical education, participated in concerts and competitions. Among my most significant performances were participation in the International Chopin Competition, second place on the Estonian Radio 4 channel in the category of French piano music, as well as performances with a choir on the national song and dance festivals. I will never forget this special feeling of singing in the choir of several hundred participants.

Years later I graduated from Hull University gaining a 2:1 degree with honors specializing in classical voice and composition.

Studying at the university revealed in me, first of all, the potential as a musician-performer, gave me the opportunity to try myself as a composer, and also opened the world of opera and musical theater for me. I took an active part in opera and operetta productions, festivals, and concerts organized by the university music and drama department. After graduation, I worked as a casual accompanist in New County Choir, Priory Park Singers Choir, and as a pianist at Hull Unitarian Church. I also continued to participate in local societies, such as the Opera 17 group, Hull Savoyards Operatic Society, and Hull Minster Choir. I was also fortunate enough to volunteer with Hull Minster Children's Choir, assisting the musical director, as well as worked as a music teacher at a bilingual Saturday school.

More About My Lessons

Learning piano is best achieved through playing the music that inspired you to start lessons. Therefore, I draw heavily on the musical geners and styles that my student enjoys listening to when creating the content for my lessons. Alongside this, I blend in technical exercises and pieces that will develop aspects of a students skill set to help them reach a competent level.

Especially when it comes to children, I use a holistic teaching approach. My students also study ear training (solfége) and music theory. As a graduate of Narva School of Music, which is based on the teaching methodology of The St. Petersburg State Conservatory, I consider an integrated approach to teaching necessary. We also participate in local talent competitions with my students.
